G12h30 for metal I got it for the TT initially because the amp lacked low end, so both speakers seemed to pair well with it. The versatile G12H Anniversary doles out pummeling lows for rock and metal with an aggressive midrange that's tailor-made for classic crunch. Not good at all. Fuller bass, with more high end treble, when comparing it to a V30 it will seem some what scooped. Mixing them really is the best way to go to get a wide tonal range and more flexibility. Turn off the bright switch or dial back teh treble and everything should be fine. I am probably leaving a few out, but you will get the idea. The V30 seems to have more high end edge/harshness, which can work well or not, depending on your amp and guitar. I mix them often for great bass, midrange, and highs. The V30 has those great cutting mids. I've heard many people say that for metal the best way to go is with v30's. The G12H30's are going to be voiced more for classic rock type stuff. Smooth with tight bass. They run about $200 USD a piece. Mixing those in a 4 x 12 is great fun, also used in the Boger Überschall cabs. However my favorite metal amp has always been the Mark IV. The speaker compensates for the lack of bass you get from the EL84's (compared to 6L6's). Being that Jose amps tend to be bright they probably would be a great match. I think of the V30 as more of a "Pro" or "Stage" speaker, whereas the G12H-30 is better for practice and/or smaller gigs. I have one of those in a 1x12 cab and its great. The chinese g12ms have the highest db/spl rating and dont get as drowned out as the heritage/evh g12m, heritage 12-65, or Creamback g12m65 do when mixed with a g12h. Kind of like breaking in the Webers. For me, 2x65's in the Bogner OS with a Twin Jet or a 5150 was a mess. I play Hard rock/modern metal . Here's some clips that helped me decide. Celestion Gold is a great option too- more money but I prefer it over the G12H30. With a strong aggressive low-end and powerful low-mids the G12H penetrates any mix with an attacking upper mid-range and an ice-cool top- end. You need to be careful with bright amps and overdrive with this speaker as it has a tendency to sound a bit buzzy. I have tried out the cab before and liked it very much but was just wondering how the Celestion 75 compare to the Vintage 30 and Greenbacks.
